Bing – Microsoft’s Last Ditch Attempt at the Search Engine Market

Bing, is the new name for yet another re-launch Windows Live (MSN) Search, the search engine provided by Microsoft as a rival to Google.

Microsoft are launching an $80M – $100M ad campaign for the launch which is to occur in June.

Who knows what they’re USP is, currently Live Search isn’t particularly attractive to me personally, in that I mean, they’ve not convinced me to change my home page from google to live search.

Let’s wait and see what they do with Bing.

    1. Thanks for the link, really interesting :). I agree, competition is good, but if Microsoft doesn’t have something that will make Google users switch over, then I don’t see how they can keep it up. I suppose they default windows / internet explorer to their own search provider so they have the market of people who haven’t chosen to use an alternative.

  1. To begin with the main page for MSN Search is an ugly looking page opposite to Google´s main page which has a more elegant look and it kind of makes people feel better when for instance they get a visitor over and sees the screen and says ¡Oh! this guy is Googling just by looking at nice looking screen which is recognized by almost everyone and even though it may seem a little detail just don´t take it for granted because it may be part of the sucess Bing may have so guys you are Super Experts on this so DESIGN a heck of a good looking HIGH TECH LOOKING SCREEN (and also very practical).

    Wish you the best.

  2. Microsoft forgot about school students who regularly need to search on the Internet. Schools have to block “inappropriate” for kids to get state and federal funds. MS forgot to ask school network admins about problems. My school district had to block Bing because of rampant pornography. Yet another MS foobar that could have been easily prevented by asking one school district network admin for “possible problems”.

  3. Microsoft Bing would be the closet competitor of Google. but i still use Google because it shows more relevant results on the serp.
