iPhone

I have just discovered the wordpress iPhone application, which certainly helps the fact that I currently do not have internet at home (one of the most frustrating things in the world).

I’ve been sat in a cafe since 10am this morning, trying to use their Internet, however it’s about as reliable as the Internet that we don’t have in our house.

Thank god I bought an iPhone. It’s been nothing but a blessing (apart from when it hasn’t, which quite possibly could have just been entirely my fault).

There’s pretty good 3g signal here in Brighton so I do get emails, and can check facebook (why I would though I have no clue), so it’s not all bad! The only thing really that annoys me is trying to run a web-based business without the Internet, although I must say I’m doing pretty well considering!

There’s a few things that the iPhone is missing in my oppinion;

File handling – a simple way to manage any kind of file, to transfer to and from computers/email etc is the only real reason I need to come to a cafe and use my laptop.

Google Doc Support – which I blame entirely on google. No doubt this won’t be an issue for long, but I really would like to be able to write docs and spreadsheets!

Flash Support – speaks for itself. As a web designer, this really sucks!

I have much to do and not much time, so i’ll get on, and hopefully blog a little more now I can do so from my new best friend.

Thanks apple.

Home Sweet Home ?

So we’ve been back in England for two weeks. The flight home was horrifically long, and disgustingly uncomfortable, but with a plethora of movies to watch, we were entertained for nearly 30 hours of flying.

We managed to see all the family and such in Cornwall, and grab a lovely Philps pasty :D yay. Barely unpacked and we’re now up in Brighton… permanently (or at least for the time being). Lots of new storage boxes and lovely things to excite.

Plenty more to be getting on with, need to sort out my computer so I can get back to work… hopefully will be getting on with some Web Design and such, so if anyone needs a website, or web-project of any kind, I’m currently looking for work.

Will have an update blog shortly, after we’ve finished putting the girl’s clothes away, probably in about 2 weeks.

This Morning

So yesterday we finally sold our car! Yay, no more things to worry about, just 2 weeks to go and we’ll be on our way home.

Obviously, we have to get around somehow, luckily it’s pretty easy to hitch-hike around here, and we always picked up hitchers when we had the car, so we figure we’re owed a few lifts.

Anyway, back to this morning, firstly, I woke up late.. never a good thing, 15 minutes before I start work (the drive is about 7/8 minutes into town). I grab a shower and leg it out the door get out onto the road and stick my thumb out.

Normally (well, in comparison to the last couple days), I’d stick my thumb out and not be waiting more than a couple of minutes before I’d get a lift, but clearly today people were being extra bastardy.

25 minutes later (10 minutes AFTER I was supposed to start work) a car pulls in and I sit down on the chair, only to realise the girls passenger seat is soaking wet! eww! so I’m like propping myself up hoping I don’t get too wet… all of sudden i realise the tops of my legs are wet where my bag is.. I touch the bottom of my bag and freak out, quickly I open it up and discover that the entire contents of my water bottle emptied out into the bag as I stood waiting for a lift, pouring all over my arse and starts dripping out the bottom of the bag.

As I get out of the car and turn around to thank the driver, I notice that I’ve left a full-on ass-shaped puddle on her seat, but I ignore it and run because I have to get to work, ass soaking wet, legs soaking wet, 10 minutes late for work, hungry, tired and praying that no one is waiting outside the door.

5 minutes of bending over in the bathroom under the hand dryer just didn’t quite do it, so now I’m sitting on a pair of old towels..

GREAT.

Have a better day than me!

Flights Booked, Bags not so packed.

So we finally bought our flights home! We’ve been looking here and there recently, and found an absolute bargain so figured we better grab them! It was like $500 dollars less that we’d seen anywhere else, and yes the flight is 30 hours long, but we get to take 2 bag @ 23kg each which means we’ll be able to get our snowboard gear through real cheap! (Just have to buy the bags).

Making The Most of NZ

So, as our time runs out, we’ve suddenly started realising that there’s so much here we haven’t done, so we’re doing the best to get the most out of where we are, hitting the slopes as often as we can (and as hard as we can in reference to my lastest fall hitting a rail at Remarks’).

We’re also planning to do some more exciting things around here if we find the time and money, we’d love to do the Shotover Jet (which I get free), and possibly a Bungy jump.

Forward Planning

I’ve never been one to plan, and to that effect no specifics are in place as of yet, there’s still two months until we leave, but ideas are flying around, we’ve had visit invitations from pretty much every corner of the world from Canada, to Peru, Australia and Sweden.

We’d love to go everywhere, visit everyone, and see the world, unfortunately our current funding won’t quite support that, so it might be a few months before we’re off again, lucky for us the pound is still the strongest currency on the planet so it shouldn’t be too long till we have enough. Maybe I could get some web-development work (hint hint).

We leave on the 24th of October, 2008
